New Bond Encyclopedia includes ‘Quantum of Solace’

A new James Bond Encyclopedia from DK Publishing will start shipping Monday, Oct. 19. The updated reference includes the newest Bond film Quantum of Solace, as well as complete coverage of the Bond library of films. The hardcover book is 8.26 x 5.23 inches and includes 336 pages.

The James Bond Encyclopedia retails for $40, but Amazon.com currently has it on sale for $26.40.

‘License to Kill’ airs in HD, stars Carey Lowell & Talisa Soto

In case you haven’t noticed Universal HD has been playing Bond films all week in high-definition. One of the hottest Bond girls to appear in 007 films is Carey Lowell who plays an ex-pilot and CIA agent Pam Bouvier in “License to Kill” (1989). She looks stunning in the film and along with Talisa Soto (who plays Franz Sanchez’s girlfriend Lupe Lamora) make this one of the most jaw-dropping films.

“License to Kill” stars “Timothy Dalton” as Bond and does a great job in the role. Unfortunately we only see Dalton in two films: “License to Kill” and “The Living Daylights” because of contract negotiations and legal issues that eventually negated his contracted third film which was rumored to be called “The Property of a Lady.”

Winehouse and Duffy up for next Bond theme?

Rumor is Amy Winehouse and Duffy are both up for the next Bond Theme song. Winehouse was apparently considered for the “Quantum of Solace” theme song, but as we know it was a collaboration between Alicia Keys and Jack White. We’ll have to wait and see who producer Michael G Wilson picks for the 23rd Bond film. According to The Sun (via Commander Bond) Wilson said, “We have started work on the new film, which I can’t say anything about. Daniel Craig is very keen to get going.”

DirecTV adds Quantum of Solace in HD VOD among others

DirecTV has added Quantum of Solace in HD 1080p to its Video On Demand library today. They also added a bunch of older Bond films that will be available until May 7. The titles in their “007 Collection”include Diamonds Are Forever, Dr. No, Goldfinger, and From Russia With Love, Die Another Day, Golden Eye and Casino Royale.

James Bond museum opens in England

A fan, yes a fan, has opened a James Bond museum in Keswick, England. James Nelson, a 48 year old chap from Cumbria has spent 20 years and thousands of pounds building up his Bond collection. Among the unique collectibles are the ” and the original golden gun from “The Man With the Golden Gun.”

He’s also got the Mustang stunt car from “Diamonds are Forever” and a Russian T55 battle tank from “GoldenEye” in the collection.

Keswick (pronounced “kez-ick” /ˈkɛzɪk/) is a small town in the district of Allerdale, Cumbria, England with a population of about 4281.

All this talk about Olga Kurylenko being in the next Bond film, but did anyone know she would also be starring in Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg? Olga plays Natasha Sax, who takes an interest in Max but ends up dead. The film didn’t get great reviews, but if you are a true Olga fan you may want to check it out just for her. Jay Leno says Quantum of Solace is “quite good”

In Jay Leno’s blog last Sunday for TimesOnline, he discusses how he is proud of the fact he has met every James Bond. He calls Roger Moore the “Pillsbury Doughbond,” and talks about how in the Bond movies the Aston Martins get treated so poorly.

He says “The new 007 movie also probably has the best Bond car since Sean Connery’s DB5.” And, mentions the fact that Daniel Craig turned down one of these rare cars. Here is a link to the full article

Olga Kurylenko appears on Fox Morning Show

Olga Kurylenko, starring in the upcoming Bond film Quantum of Solace, was recently interviewed on the Fox 11 Morning show. She talked about being discovered in the Ukraine and the “James Bond Curse.” “I’ve got some bruises, but it is fine,” Olga said, after being asked she was afraid of the curse.

She also mentioned shopping with Gemma Arterton who plays MI6 Agent Fields. Olga and Gemma do not share any scenes together, but are friends and went shopping together in Panama.

Olga plays Russian-Bolivian agent Camille, who plays the lead Bond girl and has her own vendetta against Dominic Greene and Quantum, who are connected to Casino Royale’s Bond girl Vesper Lynd.

Olga also plays in the movie Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg which opened this weekend and trounced all other openings. Olga plays Natasha Sax, who wants to be with Max (Mark Wahlberg) but is killed mysteriously.

Gemma Arterton born with 12 fingers

It has been revealed that Bond girl Gemma Arterton who stars in the upcoming Quantum of Solace was born with 12 fingers. The actress, and “Perfect 007″ was quoted in the Mail as saying “People are really interested but repulsed at the same time.” In quote that seems to regret the fact that the doctor who delivered her tied off her extra fingers at birth so they would fall off, she told Esquire magazine that “We could do more stuff if we had extra fingers — faster texting, faster emailing, better guitar-playing.”
